FairTrade At ChristChurch

Christ Church Bedford was one of the first churches in the St Albans Diocese to become FairTrade certified - back in 2005.

We have a Fair Trade stall after the 10am service and are trialling this every Sunday at the moment in an effort to give greater access to Fairtrade for the congregation.

The stall sells many things - chocolate, tea  & coffee along with less well known FT foods - rice, sugar, jam, nuts, dried fruit and a host of other tasty foods.

The concept behind FairTrade is to ensure that the producers of the items get a wage that allows them to support their families.

It will soon be the main event of the year - Fairtrade Fortnight, with this year's theme being Take One Step.More details from the website at

Christ Church will once again be hosting the Bedford Fairtrade Borough Main Event. This year we will have 3 parts, an early afternoon family fun and craft with cream teas. then a chidlrens Take a Step disco. Finally a Take a Step Dance in the evening for adults. We'd love to see people come along and find out more.

You can find out more about FairTrade in general from the FairTrade foundation website.
